  • Ping Users Top One Million in First 48 Hours
    Apple today announced that in less than 48 hours since its launch on Wednesday, more than one million users have joined Ping, its new social network for music. Ping lets users follow their favorite artists and friends to discover what music they’re talking about, listening to, and downloading. “One-third of the people who have downloaded iTunes 10 have joined Ping,“ said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of Internet Services. “As many more people download iTunes 10 in the coming weeks, we expect the Ping community to continue growing.“

    The Los Angeles Times reports that Apple’s iAd mobile advertising platform is “getting favorable reviews from the companies whose advertisements were the first to run on the new system.” The article quotes Joe Jacoby, a senior manager of Nissan’s media operations, who says, “What iAd promises is the most progressive thing I’ve seen to date” in digital advertising.

    PC Magazine makes the new quad-core 27-inch iMac an Editors’ Choice, calling it “a highly sophisticated, yet simple to use media PC.” The magazine found the new iMac to be faster than other all-in-one models they’ve recently tested and concludes that it “cements the Apple iMac as the all-in-one desktop to have and to beat.”
  • Eat Pray Love Goes From Page to Screen via Final Cut Pro
    Editor Bradley Buecker describes how he cut his first feature film, Eat Pray Love, using Final Cut Pro. To edit more than 70 hours of footage shot on location in New York, Italy, India, and Indonesia, Buecker found a fast, efficient editing format in ProRes 422 (Proxy), introduced in Final Cut Pro 7.

    m8trix : Wow just went over the numbers of both sites even though M8-2 is floundering a bit Scifiology had 37.456 hits in the last two month of which 17,012 was of unique addresses 11,172 of repeat addresses and i am guessing the rest bots of one nature or the other. Nice numbers on the site. Best yet. if M8-2 is truly dead I might just keep it on life support and go full tilt with scifiology.

    m8trix : Hey guys . As you can see i am bring M8-2 back to its roots with a open source mentality with tech at the heart of the site. it will be a slow build with a lot of different changes . There are sections I am playing with moving to scifiology since that would be a better platform fir them. Games for one. Just musing right now. But if you have any ideas as always please feel free to speak your mind

    m8trix : Finally got the blog up but it will be slow in developing and will take time since this is a new blogging tool I am using ., I sitll have to get use to it but will continue to build on it and hopefully it will bring in new members and kick this puppy back to life.

    m8trix : Fixed. when changing themes over there is usually some little things that has to be done. On this one I had to rename a file to en_us that holds all the reply, quote etc buttons. So sorry for that . I am going in the next couple of days put a quick reply and add all the lines of code that allows all those functions like highslide youtube to work right
